Evidence for cross transmission of pathogens between wild hooded cranes and domestic geese

چکیده

Driven by habitat loss from anthropogenic activities, wintering migratory birds forage together with poultry in paddy fields, and thus impose risks of cross transmitting pathogens. To date, there is little evidence for such pathogen transmission between wild poultry. Using the high-throughput sequencing, we report on detected potential pathogens both hooded cranes Grus monacha sympatric domestic geese Anser anser domesticus during period, infer possibility cross-species transmission. The results revealed that number shared amplicon sequence variants (ASVs) gut microbiota two species was low early stage (17.2%; 5 ASVs shared) but increased to 56.3% (18 late stage. That is, microbial communities became more similar through co-foraging supporting period. Importantly, appeared be largely geese, although some may have become specialized goose Humans are also face contracting these their frequent contacts It therefore, necessary closely monitor this pathway animals even humans.

Transmission of Neospora caninum between wild and domestic animals.

To determine whether deer can transmit Neospora caninum, brains of naturally infected white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus) were fed to 4 dogs; 2 of these dogs shed oocysts. Oocysts from 1 of the dogs were tested by polymerase chain reaction and found to be positive for N. caninum and negative for Hammondia heydorni. The internal transcribed spacer 1 sequence of the new strain (designated ...

A survey of the transmission of infectious diseases/infections between wild and domestic ungulates in Europe

The domestic animals/wildlife interface is becoming a global issue of growing interest. However, despite studies on wildlife diseases being in expansion, the epidemiological role of wild animals in the transmission of infectious diseases remains unclear most of the time. Multiple diseases affecting livestock have already been identified in wildlife, especially in wild ungulates. The first objec...

Aujeszky’s Disease and Hepatitis E Viruses Transmission between Domestic Pigs and Wild Boars in Corsica: Evaluating the Importance of Wild/Domestic Interactions and the Efficacy of Management Measures

Wildlife species as reservoirs of infectious pathogens represent a serious constraint in the implementation of disease management strategies. In the Mediterranean island of Corsica, the dynamics of hepatitis E virus (HEV) and Aujeszky's disease virus (ADV) are suspected to be influenced by interactions between wild and domestic pigs. To improve our understanding of these influences, we first co...
